Continuing with the river theme, and another from the archives. I spotted these boys walking on a local dam as I drove by back in July 2003, so I turned the car around to see what was going on. It was nearly 100 degrees and the mother of one boy had brought them all to the river to have some fun and cool off for the afternoon. It didn't take long after seeing my camera before the boys started showing off with all sorts of neat tricks. This shot happened to be one of my favorites for obvious reasons but, for full effect, you really have to see the few frames leading up to this shot as well. They were having a really good time. The "Turtle Soup" idea came from the boys. They said the water, which was warm, frothy, and smelly, reminded them of turtle soup. I'm not sure what turtle soup actually smells like but, if it's anything like the smell I remember from that day, I don't think I care to try it any time soon.

Edit: Wow, it was quite a surprise to wake up and find so many hilarious comments under this photo. I'm off to shoot more AMAZING photos today. Thanks EVERYONE for your TERRIFIC (and continued?) support. I feel very honored to have such special people paying attention. My original plan was to delete all the less than believable comments but that would seem such a waste at this point. I think I'll leave them all for now and give it some time to sink in. As Casey Kasem would say, "Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the STARS!"
